PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel interferon-like proteins having enhanced biological activities.SOLUTION: Provided is a non-naturally occurring protein having human interferon-like biological activities, wherein the protein is selected from the group consisting of proteins comprising amino acid sequences at least 90% or more and less than 95% identical to each specific sequence. Also provided is a protein having human interferon-like biological activities, wherein the protein comprises a fragment consisting of at least 150 or more and less than 158 amino acids of a specific amino acid sequence. The proteins have an at least 10-fold greater anti-proliferative activity than human interferon alpha 2b (HuIFN-α2b).
