PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the deterioration in display quality can be suppressed.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate including a switching element disposed in an active area for displaying an image, an organic insulation film disposed on the switching element in the active area and having a first top surface and a second top surface that projects higher than the first top surface in a peripheral area outside the active area, and a pixel electrode formed at the position overlapping with the first top surface and electrically connected to the switching element; a second substrate provided to face the first substrate; a peripheral spacer positioned between the second substrate and the position overlapping with the second top surface in the peripheral area and forming a second cell gap that is larger than a first cell gap formed in the active area; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate. |
