The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary cell that has reduced precipitation of lithium metal during charging at low temperatures. This negative electrode (100) for a lithium ion secondary cell has a current collector (101), and an active material layer (102) formed over the current collector (101). The active material layer (102) contains graphite (103) as the active material and has a load length rate of 50% to 98.5%, inclusive. The load length rate is the ratio, calculated in relation to a reference length and expressed as a percentage, of the sum of the cross sectional lengths cut out by a line resulting from parallel shifting, by 10 mum inward from the surface of the active material layer (102), of the average line of the roughness curve obtained through measurement of surface roughness of the active material layer (102). |
