PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an object compound with high purity.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an ester compound (7a) includes an imidation step of manufacturing an imidate compound (6a) by imidating an oxetane compound (Ia) and an esterification step of manufacturing the ester compound (7a) by esterifying the imidate compound (6a). The imidate compound (6a) used in the esterification step is included in a water layer when a reaction solution after the imidation step is separated by using a solution containing a strong acid and an organic solvent.
