A damper is provided with: a cylinder; a piston which is inserted into the cylinder in a slidable manner; a rod which is inserted into the cylinder and which is joined to the piston; a rod-side chamber and a piston-side chamber, which are divided within the cylinder by the piston; a tank; an extension-side passage which connects the rod-side chamber and the tank; a pressure-side passage which connects the piston-side chamber and the tank; an extension-side damping valve which is provided between the ends of the extension-side passage and which applies resistance to the flow of liquid flowing from the rod-side chamber toward the tank; a first check valve which is provided between the ends of the extension-side passage so as to be parallel to the extension-side damping valve and which only permits the passage of liquid flowing from the tank toward the rod-side chamber; a pressure-side damping valve which is provided between the ends of the pressure-side passage and which applies resistance to the flow of liquid flowing from the piston-side chamber toward the tank; a second check valve which is provided between the ends of the pressure-side passage so as to be parallel to the pressure-side damping valve and which only permits the passage of liquid flowing from the tank toward the piston-side chamber; and a center passage which connects the tank and the inside of the cylinder. |
