PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which surplus water vapor is added to exhaust gas including carbon monoxide generated in a metallurgical furnace to perform shift reaction to form a mixed gas including hydrogen and carbon dioxide produced by the shift reaction and water vapor not consumed to the shift reaction, this mixed gas is contacted with an organic substance, and the organic substance is modified to reduce its molecules, the molecules of the organic substance are efficiently reduced without causing troubles such as the fusion of plastic in a reactor.SOLUTION: In a fluidized bed using granules (f) having a true density of 4 to 8 g/cmand comprising at least one kind selected from Fe, Ni and Cr as a part of a fluidized medium, a mixed gas (g) is contacted with an organic substance, and the organic substance is modified so as to reduce its molecules. |
