A terminal for determining the type of an input system includes: a data analysis unit which analyzes the data in an input field if a focus on the input field is detected; a database unit which stores the data about the use history of the input field; an input system determination unit which determines a letter type to be inputted into the input field based on the analyzed data about the input field or the data stored in the database unit; and an input system output unit which outputs an input system appropriate for the determined letter type on the display unit of a terminal. By doing so, it is possible to determine a letter type to be inputted into an input field where a user input is necessary and set an input system appropriate for the letter type on a terminal.
