The invention relates to a method and to a device for producing flat glass using a casting method and using a melting device, a forehearth channel (3) for feeding a glass melt to a shaping device, wherein the glass melt flows to a shaping system of cylinders and rollers that guides a glass strip (11), wherein from the forehearth channel (3) to a drawing die (7), the glass strip (11) is widened to the intended width of the glass strip (11) to be manufactured while the glass strip depth decreases. According to the invention, after leaving the forehearth channel (3) and an inclined surface of the drawing die (7), the glass melt forms, under the influence of the force of gravity, a free sag (8) used for shaping, before the glass melt encounters a drawing roller (10) or a sliding underlayment, which is cooled with fluids, wherein the free sag (8) of the glass strip (11) is adjusted in the vertical and horizontal elongation thereof in such a way by changing the position of the drawing roller (10) or the sliding underlayment that the desired sheet thickness and viscosity of the glass strip (11) are achieved when the glass strip encounters the drawing roller (10) of the sliding underlayment. |
