<p>There is provided an endovascular device useful for supporting and repairing portions of a blood vessel. The device comprises a first tubular graft layer (2) having a stent element (3) located therearound and a second graft layer (1) which covers at least part of the stent element. The first and second graft layers are securely attached together at attachment sites (5) to prevent relative movement of the stent element with respect to the graft layers. The attachment sites between the first and second graft layers are formed by laser welding wherein a near-infrared absorbing dye is applied either to the outer surface of the first tubular graft layer or to the inner surface of the second graft layer, or to both layers. The areas having dye applied are then irradiated with energy to create a laser weld.</p> |
