A photo-metric solution analyzer includes a rotor assembly 1 having radially orientated cavities 10, 11, 12 disposed in an annular array and syphons 13, 14, 15 communicating with each of the cavities, and further includes means (not shown) to activate the syphons whereby the cavities are emptied. When the assembly 1 rotates a stationary tube 24 dispenses liquid into a central chamber 25 with a serrated periphery 26, whereby the liquid is introduced uniformly into first cavities 10. An overflow pipe 27 controls the amount of liquid in the cavities 10. A burst of compressed air from the chamber 25 causes the liquid to flow through first syphons 13 into second cavities 11. Additional liquids may similarly be introduced one at a time into the second cavities to form a mixture with the original liquid. A burst of compressed air from header 16 activiates second syphons 14 through which the liquid or mixture is transferred to third cavities 12, where its transmittance is measured by passing a beam of light through holes 21, transparent plates 4 and 3, and the transparent disc 5 in which the syphons and cavities are formed. Mixing of liquids may be facilitated by reducing the pressure in the header 17 to cause bubbles to pass through the mixture in the third cavities 12 from third syphons 15. A final burst of compressed air from header 17 activates the syphons 15 through which the liquid or mixture passes into a stationary waste trough 19 surrounding the assembly 1.
