The device has an electric motor for driving a tool, and a control board (10) provided for the motor. The board has an adjusting unit (11) i.e. rotary potentiometer, with an operating part (12) for adjusting rotational speed of the motor. A carrier (13) holds the board, and the operating part is connected with the carrier and/or pre-assembled with the board in such a manner that the operating part and the board stay in testing functional connection with one another in a pre-assembled condition. The board, operating part and the carrier are arranged in a housing part designed as a handle.
