Dyeing preparations for the production of a water-insoluble azo dyestuff on textile material made of or containing an aromatic polyester or triacetyl cellulose comprise a) 10- 30% by weight of an arylamide of 2, 3- hydroxynaphthoic acid which is free of sulphonic acid and carboxylic acid groups b) 10-30% by weight of an aminobenzene of the general formula I: in which R is a nitro, alkylsulphonyl, arylsulphonyl, alkylsulphonylamino, or arylsulphonylamino, or a sulphonic acid amide or carboxylic acid amide group which amides may be substituted, or an acylamino group, and in which the benzene group may be further substituted by a halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, c) 6-20% by weight of a water-soluble condensation product of an aromatic hydroxy compound and an W-methanesulphonic acid and d) water, preferably constituents (a) and (b) are present in equimolar amounts. Ethylene glycol or glycerol may be added to avoid freezing of the compositions and pentachlorophenolate may be added as a fungicide, a mixture of triisobutyl phosphate and isobutyl alcohol may be used as antifoaming agent.
