In a distributer valve 1, having a cylindrical valve chamber whose axial dimension is short in comparison with its diameter, an inlet port P, an exhaust port R, and two service ports U 1 and U 2 , all of which ports are formed in the end wall or walls of the chamber, control of fluid flow is effected by a rotor 2, 13 which is rotatable by a shaft 3, 22 and has formed therein an arcuate aperture. In operation, the lower end wall of the chamber is constituted by a cylinder 10, Fig. 5, which cylinder is disposed within a housing 11 having radial inlet, exhaust and service ports each of which communicates with one groove formed in the cylinder periphery, communication between the respective grooves and ports P, R, U 1 and U 2 being effected by means of appropriately disposed and axially extending passages 20, 21, The rotor shaft 22 is held within bearings 24, 25 disposed within an eccentric 23 which permits radial adjustment of the shaft, and hence of the rotor 13, to ensure positive and accurate closing of the service ports by the respective rotor portions. In modifications (Figs. 6, 7 and 8, not shown), the rotor may be formed into a full circle with radially extending ribs (30) connecting the central and peripheral portions, and these portions may be formed slightly conical. Furthermore, the rotor may be centred by balls, rollers or needles engaging its periphery.</p> |
