<p>A radiator 100 has a pipe inlet and/or outlet comprising a passageway 10 profiled to provide a quick release pipe fitting. A pipe 60 may be installed in the radiator by inserting the pipe into the passageway and subsequently inserting a gripping collet 40 over the pipe and into the passageway. The collet preferably includes a body 41 having an abutment shoulder 44 and arms 42, whereby the arms selectively grip the pipe based upon the position of the collet relative to a deflecting chamber 28 of the passageway. When locking of the pipe is required, the collet may be spaced from the radiator by a detachable lock ring 70 so that the arms are pushed into the pipe by the deflecting chamber. When release of the pipe is required, the locking ring is removed and the collet pushed into the radiator until the abutment shoulder touches a face 24 of the radiator. This pushes the arms out of the deflecting chamber, thereby removing their gripping force on the pipe. An o-ring 50 may also be provided as a seal.</p> |
