PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of fuel economy by controlling an engine speed in accordance with a demand of a driver, to follow a target heating and cooling state by changing the update cycle of the engine speed, and to suppress and stabilize fluctuation of the engine speed at a point of time when the heating and cooling state reaches the target heating and cooling state. SOLUTION: In the control device for the vehicle, a speed ratio of a transmission is controlled so that an actual engine speed is made to be an air-conditioning demand engine speed when the air-conditioning demand engine speed is higher than the actual engine speed. When cooling a cabin, an air-conditioning demand engine speed calculating means determines the correction amount based on the difference between a target evaporator temperature and an actual evaporator temperature, and changes the update cycle of the air-conditioning demand engine speed in accordance with the difference. Further, in the control device for the vehicle, when heating a cabin, the air-conditioning demand engine speed calculating means determines the correction amount based on the difference between a target engine water temperature and an actual water temperature, and changes the update cycle of the air-conditioning demand engine speed in accordance with the difference.
