IMAGING METHOD AND DEVICE USING SHEARING WAVES

The method involves generating a mechanical wave comprising a shearing component and a compression component in a viscoelastic medium, A movement parameter of the viscoelastic medium is determined in different points during the propagation of the mechanical wave. The movement parameter is processed to eliminate the effects due to the compression component of the mechanical wave. The propagation of the mechanical wave is observed in multitude of points of the medium by ultrasonography. An independent claim is also included for an imaging device comprising a ultrasonic transducer network and a micro-computer.
