A method and an apparatus for preventing ping-pong in a mobile terminal are provided to control a ping-pong preventing timer value according to the moving speed of the mobile terminal, thereby preventing connection from being terminated as the mobile terminal can not perform necessary handover. A method for preventing ping-pong in a mobile terminal comprises the following steps of: measuring the moving speed of the mobile terminal(810); setting a ping-pong preventing timer value of indicating a point of time when handover is performed according to the moving speed of the mobile terminal(812); and performing the handover to the other BS(Base Station) if the ping-pong preventing timer value is completed(816). |
