PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester that includes a furan ring in a repeating unit, and that exhibits liquid crystallinity in the state of a melt.SOLUTION: The polyester includes a furan ring, and a phenylene group that couples the furan ring in a repeating unit. In the polyester, the phenylene group includes both of a p-phenylene group, and a m-phenylene group. Setting the ratio of the p-phenylene group to the m-phenylene group within a predetermined range enables a melt of the polyester to exhibit liquid crystallinity. |
