PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image images having the same size and being in two directions, without adjusting the optical conditions of an optical system and to suppress the increase of the size of an apparatus.SOLUTION: A polarization device includes a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate. In the first polarizing plate, a polarizer layer is formed and the first polarizing plate reflects image light having one polarization component having one of polarization directions orthogonal to each other and transmits image light having the other polarization component. In the second polarizing plate, the polarizer layer is formed and the second polarizing plate transmits the image light having one polarization component having one of the polarization directions orthogonal to each other and reflects the image light having the other polarization component. The first polarizing plate and the second polarizing plate are provided so that an angle formed by the first polarizing plate and the second polarizing plate is a predetermined angle. The polarization component of the image light reflected by the first polarizing plate and transmitted through the second polarizing plate and the polarization component of the image light transmitted through the first polarizing plate and reflected by the second polarizing plate have the polarization directions orthogonal to each other. |
