PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection system making it possible to upgrade an absorption efficiency of occupant's kinetic energy by side-impact airbags in case of a side collision.SOLUTION: An occupant protection system that protects an occupant by deploying side-impact airbags 2s and 2c at least in case of a vehicle side collision includes: a collision prediction means that predicts a collision timing in case there is a possibility of the vehicle side collision; pressing means (for example, the side-impact airbags 2s and 2c) that press an occupant to move the occupant to an inward side according to the vehicular standard, and a control means that actuates the pressing means at a timing preceding the collision timing predicted by the collision prediction means (specifically, a timing when a duration time during which a load is applied to the occupant by pressing by the pressing means, prior to the collision timing, becomes equal to or larger than a lower-limit duration time and equal to or smaller than an upper-limit duration time). |
