PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element of an organic-inorganic hybrid type, high in reliability as an element and capable of stably exerting characteristics as a light emitting element.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element has a structure where a plurality of layers are laminated between an anode and a cathode. The organic electroluminescent element has one layer or a plurality of layers of organic compound layers between the anode and the cathode, and further has a metal compound layer between the anode and the organic compound layers and/or between the cathode and the organic compound layers. The metal compound layer has a structure where at least one of elemental metal, an oxide and a sulfide is sandwiched between two layers of a single metal oxide or a single metal sulfide. |
