PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly evaluate performance of active carbon while suppressing the consumption of a test solution and a test period.SOLUTION: A mesh container 20 in which active carbon 12 is enclosed is fixed to be dipped entirely in a test solution 14 in a compact stirring container 16. Then aerification is carried out by an air diffuser 24 connected to a blower 26 to stir the test solution in the compact stirring container 16. Consequently, a purifying operation for the active carbon 12 is carried on uniformly in the whole test solution 14, so when it is determined that the active carbon 12 and test solution 14 are in an adsorption balanced state, sampling, calculation, etc., of data needed to evaluate the active carbon 12 are performed. Thus, the test solution 14 is used only by as much as the capacity of the compact stirring container 16, and the purifying operation for the active carbon 12 by stirring is carried on to obtain the adsorption balanced state. Further, small-sized and large-sized stirring container are properly used so as to determine the quality of the active carbon 12 and to predict a breakpoint, and while the consumption of the test solution 14 and the test period are suppressed, the performance of the active carbon 12 can be properly evaluated. |
