PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of purifying NOx regardless of an active state of an exhaust purification catalyst without worsening fuel efficiency.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine promotes a water-gas-shift reaction (CO+HO→CO+H) by design in an exhaust pipe 18 at an upstream side of an exhaust purification catalyst 20 while warming up the same. The water-gas-shift reaction has an activation temperature of approximately 150°C and progresses regardless of an existence of the exhaust purification catalyst 20. As a reaction formula of the water-gas-shift reaction shows, product materials thereof include H. Thus, NOx can be purified through a strong reduction function of the Hby promoting the water-gas-shift reaction. |
