PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor for driving washing and drying machine fan that suppresses the vibration as generated even in rotating it with high speed, and to provide a washing and drying machine to use the electric motor.SOLUTION: A washing and drying machine comprises an inner tank accommodating laundries, an outer tank encompassing the inner tank, and an air blowing unit blowing an air into the inner tank during drying operation. An electric motor driving a fan of the air blowing unit comprises a stator in which an armature coil is provided within a plurality of slots formed in a stator iron core, and a rotor in which a permanent magnet is inserted in a direction of a rotating axis into holes formed in an iron core of the rotor. The permanent magnet is composed of a magnetic material of samarium-iron-nitrogen, and has a shape that both ends of the magnet are protruded toward a circumference of the rotor and its center part is concave from the circumference of the rotor. |
