PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse generation circuit and an arc discharge protection circuit which reliably protect a semiconductor switch by instantaneously detecting an overcurrent flowing through the semiconductor switch in the event of an arc discharge in a high speed and high noise immunity circuit configuration.SOLUTION: A pulse generation circuit 100 for outputting a high voltage on a secondary side of a transformer 12 every time a drive circuit 24 turns on a semiconductor switch 22 further includes an arc discharge protection circuit section 200 for outputting a protection instruction signal Sh to the drive circuit 24 when a current value I1 through the semiconductor switch 22 becomes equal to or higher than a threshold Ith. The drive circuit 24 renders an output to the semiconductor switch 22 at a high impedance in response to the input of the protection instruction signal Sh from the arc discharge protection circuit section 200. |
