PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission control device that can optimally estimate a light quantity of monitor light.SOLUTION: The light emission control device controls preliminary light emission to be performed prior to imaging by a camera body 101. The light emission control device comprises: an attitude sensor 18 that detects an attitude of the camera body 101; an imaging sensor 5 that outputs an image signal for generating an image from light received by a light reception surface; and a prediction calculation part 16 that determines a top and a bottom of an image picked up by the imaging sensor 5 from the attitude of the camera body 101 detected by the attitude sensor 18 and estimates a light quantity of ordinary light with which a subject is ordinarily irradiated by preferentially eliminating an image signal corresponding to a part on a side determined to be the top of the image over an image signal corresponding to the other parts of the image.
