PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolation apparatus with which construction cost can be reduced for a new bridge, plasticization of a bridge pier can be reduced, and earthquake strengthening can be performed on a bridge in service, with respect to level-2 earthquake vibration.SOLUTION: By using low yield point steel, a seismic isolation apparatus can be achieved which has a damping performance extremely greater than that using other materials. When attempting to use the seismic isolation apparatus for a bridge, however, even in the case where a bridge pier is settled within an elasticity range, the bridge pier cannot be returned to a position before an earthquake by being disturbed by large residual deformation of the low yield point steel. A damper device capable of canceling the residual deformation of the low yield point steel is then provided in series to the low yield point steel in a deforming direction of the low yield point steel, such that the bridge pier can be returned to the position before the earthquake without being affected by the residual deformation of the low yield point steel. |
