PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source turn-on device capable of surely restraining the continuance of an arc discharge by a simple configuration.SOLUTION: The light source turn-on device comprises a lighting circuit 30 for supplying a direct current to a light source circuit 40 provided with an LED 41 and thereby turning the LED 41 on, and a lighting circuit control unit 6 for performing an operation to stop the supply of the direct current from the lighting circuit 30 to the light source circuit 40 in order to extinguish an arc discharge occurring in at least either of the light source circuit 40 and the lighting circuit 30. The lighting circuit control unit 6 performs the supply stopping operation repeatedly regardless of whether there is an arc discharge in at least either of the light source circuit 40 and the lighting circuit 30.
