PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a cursor by intuitive operation on a pointer requiring no complicated works such as initial setting of cursor.SOLUTION: In the driving method of a plasma display panel, a subfield has: a writing period Pw in which write pulses are applied to data electrodes D1-Dm according to image signals and scan pulses are sequentially applied to scan electrodes SC1-SCn; and a maintenance period Ps in which maintenance pulses of the number according to a luminance weight are applied to the scan electrodes SC1-SCn and the maintenance electrodes SU1-SUn alternately to generate maintenance discharge. In a maintenance period Ps of a predetermined subfield SF1, time intervals To1, To2 and To3 of the discharge by three or more maintenance pulses which are continuously applied alternately are 2 times or more of time intervals of discharge by the maintenance pulses continuously applied alternately in the maintenance period Ps in a subfields SF2-SF8 other than the predetermined subfield and are the time intervals represented by a predetermined sequence.
