1,116,288. Feeding sheets. J. BOBST ET FILS S.A. 8 March, 1966 [8 March, 1965], No. 10226/66. Heading B6B. In a machine wherein sheets are fed by clamp bars 4 attached to two endless chains 3 which are driven intermittently from a pinion 7 and gear segment 8, the segment 8 is oscillated about a pivot 15 by a rod 13, lever 17, and cam and roller means, such that the segment is driven positively in opposite directions. The pinion 7 is engaged and disengaged from the chain drive by a rocking fork 12 and rod 11 in known manner, so that the chains are only driven in the direction 10. As shown, the lever 17 is pivoted at 18, has a roller 19 engaging a cam 20, and a further lever 22 is pivoted thereto at 25. The lever 22 has a roller 23 engaging a cam 24 by reason of a spring 26 arranged between the upper end of the lever 22 and the lever 17. The contours of the two cams 20, 24 are so arranged that the segment 8 is driven positively in opposite directions without play between the cams and rollers. In a modification (Fig. 2), the lever 17 and cams 20, 24 are omitted, and a shaft secured transversely to the end of the rod 13 has two follower rollers thereon engaging cam tracks in a single cam member. |
