The device has a base (3) fixed on a work table (1) of a machine tool, and a pneumatic assembly (2) fixed on the base for clamping a table by depression and displacing the table on air cushion of the table resting on the pneumatic assembly. The pneumatic assembly includes suction cups (4) or pockets of different size and shapes. An air space is created in the suction cups or pockets to ensure clamping of the table by depression. The suction cups or pockets are fixed on the base by a screw (8). Channels (5) are connected to a pressurized gas source and to a vacuum source.
