The damper (1) has a body (2) surrounding an annular compression chamber (3). A hydraulic compensation chamber (10) receives fluid from the compression chamber through a radial opening (8) with variable section during displacement of a control piston (4). The radial opening is provided in cylindrical internal and external walls (3', 3'') of the compression chamber. The internal wall surrounds a cylindrical hollow tube (20) forming a channel (21). Another channel (22) is arranged between the body and the compression chamber, and hydraulically connects the opening to the channel (21).
