The present invention relates to a wire drawing method and more specifically, to a wire drawing method for improving mechanical properties of a steel wire by using dies having a circular cross section and dies having a cross section shape which is not a circle while a reduction rate per a pass is same as a conventional wire drawing method. According to the present invention, a wire drawing method comprises: a step for passing a steel wire through multiple circular dies having a circular cross section, and having different cross sectional areas; and a step for passing a steel wire through more than one non-circular dies having a cross section of an ellipse or a polygon. According to the present invention, a wire drawing method is capable of minimizing a deformation rate variation between a material center and a surface, and improving strength by adding more plastic deformation to a material even through a final wire diameter is same in comparison with a conventional circular wire drawing dies. Therefore, mechanical properties such as twisting flexible properties and strength of a material, etc. can be improved.
