The invention relates to a method for obtaining information relevant to the marketing, management and/or treatment of livestock (1), particularly for determining the weight, portion weight and/or lean meat proportion of the livestock, preferably a pig, the method comprising the following steps: positioning a mobile 3D camera system relative to the livestock; recording an image of the livestock by means of the 3D camera system in the form of 3D sensor data; adjusting a 3D volume model (5) of the livestock to the sensor data available in the form of three-dimensional data; analysing the adjusted model data (of the 3D volume model) on the basis of previously determined reference values, in order to output and/or store the information obtained from the analysed livestock. The invention also relates to a device for performing the method.
