[Class 20(iii)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXVI] In a motor vehicle in which a power line leads across the hinge axis of a door &c. to a motor for operating a window, the line is fixedly supported at two spaced points substantially on the hinge axis by members attached to the door and door pillar respectively, so that the portion between is substantially coincidental with the hinge axis and is thus subjected to twisting only when the door is moved. As shown in Fig. 1, the door 1 has a vertically slidable window operated by a fluid motor 6 through a control valve 14 as in Specification 564,867. This valve has two control lines 21 connected to a point on the door. A power supply line 12 from the intake manifold of the engine and two control lines 19 from the instrument panel are carried across the hinge axis 3 by means of a member 28 on the pillar and a channel arm 24 fixed at one end to the door by a bracket 25, Fig. 3, the other end lying on the hinge axis. The arm is concealed in a pocket when the door is closed. The channel may carry lengths of metal tubing held therein by struck-over lugs 30 and having one of their ends turned in the direction of the hinge axis, the flexible parts of the lines 12 and 19 being secured thereto. Electric wiring may be similarly supported, and one end of the channel support may be directed along the hinge axis in place of the bent metal tubing. |
