The warning system has proximity sensors, which are arranged above the wheels of a vehicle to trigger an alarm, where radar sensors and capacitive sensors are used as proximity sensors. The proximity sensors are arranged above one or two wheels. The proximity sensors are arranged above the left front wheel. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for operating a warning system; and (2) a method for using a warning system.
