Provided is a seat sliding device suitable for weight reduction. The seat sliding device (40) has a configuration in which lower rails (41) and upper rails (42) are formed in left-to-right substantial symmetry on either side of a widthwise center, and lock mechanisms (43) are provided to both upper rails (42) and can be engaged with and locked to the lower rails (41). The entire structure combining the lower rails (41), the upper rails (42), and the lock mechanisms (43) is substantially symmetrical forward and backward as well as left to right, and the force applied to the lower rails (41) and the upper rails (42) can be absorbed substantially equally forward and backward as well as left to right. Because the lock mechanisms (43) have an elastic locking member (430) in the longitudinal substantial center, the lower rails (41) and the upper rails (42) can elastically deform about the longitudinal substantial center as a fulcrum, eccentric loads during locking can be reduced, vibration absorption characteristics can be improved, the plate thickness of the materials can be reduced below that of conventional products, and weight can be reduced. |
