In the present invention, an input device discriminates user input on the basis of the movement of the user's hand within an image pick-up image associated with an operation screen on which a selection region is displayed. The input device is provided with an input discrimination unit (155) for discriminating whether a user input is a selection-region selection operation or a gesture operation, on the basis of changes in the shape of the user's hand within the image pick-up image that occur because the user's hand moved. The discriminated input is transmitted by a transmission unit (156) to an application which is the operation target.
