A composition for cleaning and caring for the teeth comprises a chewing gum base and a polishing agent comprising at least 20% by weight fine (up to 3 microns) and 5-40% coarse (10-20 microns) zirconium silicate (Zr SiO 4 ), the weight ratio of agent to gum base being up to 3:2. Preferably, the composition comprises up to 5% by weight of a dental plaque removing agent, e.g. Na 2 CO 3 , NaHCO 3 or CHCl 3 , and the fine ZrSiO, is in the form of relatively smooth particles whereas the coarse particles are relatively rough. |
