PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing dryness of fluid discharged into a preliminary discharge head cap in a fluid ejection device.SOLUTION: A fluid ejection device comprises: a head capable of executing effective discharge processing for discharging fluid toward a processing object disposed at a predetermined position and preliminary discharge processing for discharging the fluid in a different manner from the effective discharge processing; a preliminary discharge head cap unit that covers the head and receives the fluid discharged from the head when the head executes the preliminary discharge processing; and a moisture retention head cap unit covering the head for retaining moisture. The preliminary discharge head cap unit and the moisture retention head cap unit are disposed such that the moisture retention head cap unit can have an overlapping state for covering an opening provided on the preliminary discharge head cap unit for receiving the fluid while covering the head in a state that the head executes neither the effective discharge processing nor the preliminary discharge processing. |
