A METHOD FOR DEFINING THE LEXICAL FORM AND THE SYNTACTIC VALENCE OF OBJECT TYPE PROPERTIES IN THE WEB ONTOLOGY LANGUAGE

The invention relates to data processing methods as well as methods of systematic multilingual lexicalization of object type properties in web ontology language (OWL) ontologies. The proposed computer-implemented method of defining the lexical form and the syntactic valence of OWL object type properties comprises instructions to be carried out in a computer-readable environment: (i) providing the lexical information of an object type property in the context of its domain and range classes and their lexical representation provided by the ontology editor; (ii) providing the lexical information for each OWL object type property to be lexicalized using: a specified part of speech of the OWL object type property, a specified lexical form of the OWL object type property, and an implicitly specified valence information of the subject and the object of the OWL object type property. The device implementing the method contains interconnected: display; data input means; OWL ontology editor for defining and editing ontologies; means for providing the lexical information of object type properties in the context of domain and range classes and their lexical representation; means for providing the lexical information for OWL object type property on the basis of its part of speech, lexical form as well as its subject and object grammatical case information.
