PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar illumination device having high uniformity of luminance, and capable of fixing a circuit board to a light guide plate with improved workability.SOLUTION: In a planar illumination device according to the present invention, a light guide plate 21 includes: a light input surface 22 disposed to face an LED 11; a light output portion 28 from which light of the LED 11 entering from the light input surface 22 is emitted in a planar shape; and an inclined portion 27 which is disposed between the light input surface 22 and the light output portion 28, and has a thickness that gradually decreases toward the side of the light output portion 28. An inclined surface 27a of the inclined portion 27 is provided with a pedestal 29 for mounting an FPC 31 in an area excluding a front portion of the LED 11. Disposing a light shielding member 45 between the neighboring pedestals 29 prevents leakage light from the inclined surface 27a from leaking to the light output portion 28 side, and thereby improves uniformity of luminance of illumination light. |
