A method and apparatus for downlink data transmission of multi-user cooperative communication are provided in the embodiments of the present invention. A base station selects an assisted User Equipment (UE) , wherein the assisted UE and an assisting UE are UEs in a closed assisting group, each data radio bearer of each UE in the closed assisting group corresponds to one logical channel identity (LCID), and the LCID is exclusive in the assisting group; the base station generates a Media Access Control Packet Data Unit (MAC PDU), wherein data to be transmitted on the data radio bearer of the assisted UE and the LCID corresponding to the data radio bearer are contained in the MAC PDU; and the base station transmits the MAC PDU to the assisting UE. With the above technical solution, a multi-user cooperative communication method in which aggregation is performed on the MAC layer is realized.
