The prevent invention relates to an apparatus and method for managing a file, capable of backing up a PLC log file. The present invention includes a storage unit which stores the file management information of a storage device and a control unit which backs up the log file in the storage device by using the file management information as an apparatus for backing up and managing the PLC log file in a separate storage device.
