A projector and a method for correcting an image of the projector are provided to detect a color change of a screen and a lamp and optical information of illumination around the projector, thereby correcting brightness and contrast of the projector image. A camera(11) is installed in a predetermined region of a projector(10). A video information extracting unit(13) extracts an image from a projected image region. And the video information extracting unit inputs the extracted image region as video information. An image compensation controller(15) outputs a correction value which corrects a projector image by using the inputted video information. A display unit(17) displays an image on a screen by reflecting the output correction value. |
