PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cleaning function of a floor tool for a vacuum cleaning appliance on a hard floor.SOLUTION: A floor tool, suitable for a vacuum cleaning appliance, comprises a support member adapted to support a cleaning sheet and at least one suction nozzle adjacent to the support member. The support member includes a carrier plate and a floor engaging pad. The carrier plate and the floor engaging pad are releasably held together by a clamping arrangement so that the edges of the cleaning sheet can be clamped between the carrier plate and the floor pad.
