PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter detection device capable of performing an inspection for each of multiple inspection lanes by space-saving.SOLUTION: A foreign matter detection device includes: a belt conveyor 2 having multiple transportation passages partitioned in parallel in a transportation direction and transporting specimens W with the transportation passages as inspection lanes 3; magnetization means 5 for magnetizing metal m in specimens W to be transported by the belt conveyor 2 in a predetermined magnetization direction; magnetic sensors 6a to 6e arranged for each of the inspection lanes 3 in a magnetic detection space 8 positioned on the downstream side of the magnetization means 5, having sharp directivity in a magnetization direction by the magnetization means 5, and detecting a residual magnetic component of the metal m in specimens W magnetized by the magnetization means 5; a magnetic shield 7 for shielding an external magnetic field in the magnetization direction that enters the inside of the magnetic detection space 8; and determination means for determining presence/absence of the metal m in specimens W for each of the inspection lanes 3 on the basis of signals from the magnetic sensors 6a to 6e. |
