PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material for melt-forming a metal ingot, which contains an additional material that is used as a raw material to be supplied to an electron beam melting furnace, has high purity and no self-collapsing property, is capable of being melted comparatively easily when thrown in a hearth and is suitable when an ingot is melt-formed.SOLUTION: The raw material for melt-forming the metal ingot is used for melting a metal by an electron beam and comprises a metallic raw material to be used for melt-forming the metal ingot and the additional material produced by a melting method. The additional material has 99.9 wt.% or higher purity. The total concentration of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen in the raw material for melt-forming the metal ingot is 100 ppm or less. The method for melt-forming the metal ingot comprises a step of melting the raw material, which is used for melt-forming the metal ingot, by the electron beam. |
