Sheets of flexible polyurethane foam having thicknesses of 1/16 inch to 2 inches are prepared by spraying a foam-forming reaction mixture on to a supporting material having a release surface and recovering the sheet of foam. The reaction mixture suitably contains an organic polyisocyanate, a polyester or polyether polyol having an OH number of 40 to 200 and water as blowing agent. The polyol is suitably a polyoxypropylene diol or triol having a M.W. of 1500 to 7000 and their reaction products with ethylene oxide. Suitable supporting material is polyolefin sheet, calendered polyvinyl chloride sheeting or materials coating with release agents such as silicones and waxes. The supporting material may be in the form of a conveyer belt. The sheets are suitable for use as carpet underlay and for packaging, insulation and cushioning purposes. |
