The door operating element (1,2) has disinfecting or cleaning device which comprises handle portions (10,20) that is provided for operation by a user when opening and/or closing the door. The nozzles (11,21) are located on or in the handle portion and are adapted to disinfecting and/or cleaning agent (12) by spraying on the section of handle portion. The reservoirs (13,23) for disinfecting and/or cleaning agent are connected to the nozzles. The control units (14,24) are adapted to cause release of disinfecting and/or cleaning agent through the nozzles. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method of disinfecting and/or cleaning handle portion of door; and (2) computer program for disinfecting and/or cleaning handle portion of door.
